ICON Level 3 Suspension Kit

Most every modification I will do to Gold Rush will be for a specific purpose. One beneficial modification for any vehicle destined for off road travel is higher ground clearance. This is primarily accomplished by adding a suspension lift to raise the frame of the vehicle and adding larger tires to raise the axles.

Some people will install a "body lift". This is not normally recommended because a body lift will not raise the vehicles frame. However, it will allow additional room for larger tires which will raise the axles.

Because my future plans for the Gold Rush is to add a slide in pop-up camper which can make the vehicle top heavy. I wanted to raise the truck only what was necessary to fit larger tires. Larger tires will provide a larger footprint on the ground and better traction (based mainly on the size and type of tires you mount; all-terrain, mud-terrain, large knobby, etc.

Since there is already plenty of room for larger tires on the rear, I chose a leveling kit to make more room for larger tires in the front. The kit I chose raised the front end about 3 inches and included better upper control arms and shocks with remote reservoirs all around. The addition of remote shock reservoirs allows for more oil which allows the shocks to work harder longer (say on a long washboard road) while maintaining their shock absorbing effectiveness.

I chose the Icon level 3 suspension kit, which included new torsion keys, upper control arms (for improved geometry), and remote reservoir shocks for all 4 corners. I had this installed by Battleborn Off-Road of Las Vegas Nevada. They did a very good job with the installation. The truck now sets level front to rear. Which I think is a much better look.
